Autonomy Housing

Graduate Studio IV, 2013
Holyoke, MA
This mixed use, multi-owner affordable aparment building rejects traditional housing models. Subsidized “Autonomy Blocks” offer new owners an opportunity to create income through rental of an attached studio. This financial model helps offset mortgage costs and leads to caring use of the building. Arts and fabrication facilities create a lively neighborhood fabric at the street level, drawing outside capital into a decayed urban core.
